It’s apple season!
I just went to the apple orchard with my kiddos and we had such a large haul of delicious apples.
With all those apples I knew that there is no greater dessert to make with apples than an APPLE PIE.
This lattice apple pie recipe is killer and when you are baking it, the aroma that fills the house is phenomenal.

I used my awesome apple peeler and peeled all my delicious apples!
Look at all those beautiful apple slices and that delicious cinnamon sugar mixture!

Fill up the crust with the amazing apple mixture.
Lay your lattice dough over top and seal the edges.

- 8 cups apples (4-5 medium apples), peeled/cored/and cut into 1/2 inch chunks
- 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 Tbsp grated orange zest
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1 recipe for perfect pie crust
- 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
- dash of ground nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp salted butter
- Preheat oven to 425 F.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- For the filling, in a medium bowl, toss together the apples, lemon juice, and orange zest. Set the mixture aside.
- Then whisk the suagr, cinnamon, flour, and nutmeg together. Sprinkle the mixture over the apples and toss to combine. Place the mixture in the bottom of the pie pan. Dot the fruit with butter.
- Then roll out the other pie crust and use a pastry roller to cut the crust into lattice strips. Then seal the edges.
- Bake on a lined baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 F and then bake for more than 40-45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Transfer to a wire rack and allow pie to cool for 1 1/2 hours.
