I love finding restaurants that I have never been to in town! I was out exploring and found Inky’s Italian Restaurant!
It has been a staple of Toledo for over 50 years. Upon entering Inky’s there are a few things you will notice:
- small town feel/family restaurant
- tradition, tradition, tradition
- community support
- locals
- wonderful staff
I was impressed at the choices on the menu…it ranged from all sorts of pastas to sandwiches, seafood to steak and even pizza.
Inside they have two rooms and a very small town/down home feel inside. It reminded me of a restaurant back home from my small town roots in Michigan with the plastic/vinyl red table top.
I tried a few different items off of the menu. This is their typical side salad that comes with your entree.
I HAD to try their cheese bread because…well, if you know me at all, then you know I LOVE cheese bread. I mean, what’s not to love? Ooey gooey melty cheese ON TOP of bread?! Ummmm……YES!
While waiting for the food what I especially loved about the restaurant was the local community support. There were drawings from kids all around, artwork made from local schools, and it made the ambiance to the restaurant very nice and warm feeling.
I mean, just adorable artwork from a little gal named Kallista 😛
So I will say that I am sure their other pasta’s are probably delicious, but I was expecting more from a staple like spaghetti. What came was noodles and a TON of sauce. WAY more than was needed. And I’m totally a sauce kinda gal. But given the amount, it was overboard. Unless it came with a giant bread basket to soak some of it up, it was just overkill. Because when there is THAT much sauce, you are bound to make a giant mess and splash it around and get it all over your clothing. So I was not too impressed with the spaghetti, but what was way better was the pizza.
I was quite impressed by the pizza. I am such a HUGE pizza lover and I am pretty particular and Inky’s pizza, which I got bacon, pineapple, and green pepper on) hit the spot. It had a great balance of sauce, cheese, and toppings. The crust was well made and the entire thing was cooked to perfection.
My ABSOLUTE favorite thing thought about this restaurant was THE STAFF! This gem, Tracey, was seriously the BEST. She was so sweet and funny, down to earth and real. What a treasure she is to the company. She seriously made me feel so welcome. Told me all about the history of the place. Even sat down and chilled with me! She was my absolute highlight of the entire experience!
and yes….she even got goofy with me! She was a rockstar and I am SO thankful for the opportunity to meet her!!
